Toe in the sand

She drew the line in the sand.

Which brings me to this. Should we draw lines?

Well, Heavens to Mergatroid. It depends on the line, now doesn’t it?

The other night at a wedding reception, I spent WAAAYYYYY too much time watching people LINE dance.  You know… the Electric Slide and the likes.    Now THERE… I had to draw the line.

But all kidding aside.  I really do think that sometimes in life, we need to draw the line.   We need to establish a limit on what we are willing to do or accept.

I believe our life is meant to be a process of learning.  We learn lessons, and we grow from those experiences.  Our values are formed.  What we VALUE is established.

And when someone oversteps those principles, or threatens our well-being, we can make a choice.  We can continue to hang out with them, and forfeit our own beliefs… OR… we can choose not to be infiltrated.  We can choose an upward path.

Our greatest necessity to ourselves, is recognizing what helps us grow.  And subsequently, filling our days with people, activities, and information, which reflect our deepest values.   We have the ultimate responsibility for the use of our time.

So we can do as we do.  It is our choice.  But we are powerful people.   We can  cultivate that power or dilute it.

Personally, I don’t like to be around people who are rude, or lewd, or insensitive to the human condition.  I find negative people draining.  Same with fake people.  Dishonest people.  Uncompassionate  people.

I chose carefully those who I listen to.  And those I trust.

I draw the line.

And sometimes… I simply draw.

But either way… I am in it to grow.
