Roll Your Pants Up…

Ebb and Flow.  Yes, where tides are concerned…. the ebb and flow are two phases of that tide…. or any similar movement of water. The ebb is the outgoing phase.  You know, when the tide drains away from the shore.   And then there is the flow.  It is the incoming phase when water rises again.

And there you have it.  High and Low.  In and Out.  Up and Down.  Flow and Ebb.  As we know, in life speak…. the terms are also common in figurative use.

It seems to me like everything is cyclical.  It all changes back and forth and back and forth again.

Sometimes our lives seem to be going great, honky-dory, fine and good.  Then there are times when it is not so pleasant.  It could be mental, physical, spiritual, or a little bit of each.  Perhaps it is a relationship, or a job, or something at home.  Some days are higher than high.  Some days feel lower than low.

Whatever the case, I believe the “energy” going on in our lives can be elevated or diminished, depending on what our minds want to do with it.

Carl Bard said… “Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.”

And then there was President Abraham Lincoln.  He reminded us… “When I do good, I feel good. When I do bad, I feel bad. That’s my religion.”

The smallest act of kindness can make a huge rippling effect on one life, or many lives.  It makes the world a better place.  It is good for the receiver, and good for the giver.

Sometimes that gesture of kindness and compassion, may have more  value underneath.  There may be gold in the things that aren’t readily apparent.  And that is the beauty of it.

Maybe each day, our world will be better, if we make someone else’s world a little better.  More up than down. Achieving higher energy levels, not lower.

And as the tide goes…  More Flow. Less Ebb.

“Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. Do not let pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place.” – Kurt Vonnegut
