Eat this

I rarely eat Fast Food. But I did today, during my lunch break while in Downtown Dayton. I was selected to serve on the Federal Grand Jury. (I am an alternate at this point, but it is an 18-month term.) That’s all I’m allowed to say about that. So back to my lunch.

I ate at Subway. Truthfully, delicious. There were 2, 894 other people in line there too, in the quest for a delicious sub. Yes, it is true. We Americans love our Fast Food.

The question is: Where do we eat? Oh, those chains of the Fast Food Restaurants. They call them chains for a darn good reason. They’ll even promise you’ll have a ball while you are there. But we know that equates to the proverbial Ball and Chain. Nonetheless.

We care so much for our Fast, FAST, Food, that we put it everywhere. There are approximately 152,000 fast food restaurants located across the United States. And those eateries employ more than 3.7 million people. Sure, we all know it is big bucks.

But the average Joe, in the United States, spends about $1200 per year, on Fast Food. Or, $100 a month. This sounds low to me, actually. But I am part of the problem in the curve of the average. I spend roughly, $0 on Fast Food.

Regardless of ALL of that, I just read an article in Money Magazine about Fast Food. They rated the top chains in the United States. They based their rankings like this: (From Money Magazine: “ MONEY evaluated 25 of the biggest fast food chains in the U.S.—brands that had over 300 locations nationwide and offered combo meals. MONEY calculated the average cost of a combo meal (defined as entree, side dish and drink). Breakfast meals were included at establishments that serve all-day breakfast. Then staffers rated each restaurant based upon their recent dining on overall experience, quality of the food, service, and perceived value.”) Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah.

And here are their TOP TEN.
1. In And Out Burger
2. Dairy Queen
3. Zaxby’s
4. A&W
5. McDonald’s
6. Sonic Drive-In
7. Dunkin’ Donuts
8. Bojangles Famous Chicken ’n Biscuits
9. Chic-fil-a
10. KFC

Shooooweeee. Here in the county seat of Eaton, Preble County, nearest me, we only have 4 of the top 10. Seems, we can’t even get Fast Food right.

My favorites, when I do eat fast food, Wendy’s and Subway, were ranked 13 and 11, respectively.

So there you have it. The big fast food caper. (The full list can be found at [] )

And the Money Magazine list of the BEST, doesn’t necessarily add up to the most POPULAR.
This, is the most popular list.
1. McDonald’s ($36.4 billion)
2. Starbucks Coffee ($17.9 billion)
3. Subway ($11.3 billion)
