Book a new trick.

Learning.  It is a good thing.

No matter who, or where, or what you are.

Heck…   do you know what do dogs do after they finish obedience school? They get their masters.

I’m telling you.  Learning is KEY.

When we are hatched, it would seem that we are completely vulnerable.  That we know so little.  We are susceptible, innocent, naive, and fresh.  (Well, unless you consider the diaper situation.  Then… not so fresh.)

But when you think of it…. everything we need for the rest of our lives… is contained in that little bundle of joy.  We are fully equipped for the human journey.  Our little bodies, and brains are ready to grow.  Most of all, our hearts, our spirits, await.

So we learn.  In every dimension.

Learning… seems to be the key to achieving a person’s full potential.  If we just stay stuck in the mud, we are stuck in the mud.  But when we discover, and look, and listen… ….. we learn and grow.  We find.

And believe me.  On this blue-ball of ours… there is a whole lot to find.  Like this…   There is a little Island in Thailand. Ko Hingham.   Not very populated or visited.  But it is covered with these beautiful little black rocks.  They say these rocks are precious.  But here is the deal  The Gods – precisely the God of Tarutao….. a Thai deity…. is said to have placed a curse onto the island.

Sooooo….. any visitor who dares to take even one little tiny pebble off the island would be cursed forever.  Here is the other deal.  Each year the the National Park office which manages the island ….. gets a LOT of mail.  It seems they receive dozens of stones returned.   Yep, the rocks are sent back by people who want to lift the curse. The stones of Koh Hingham must stay on Koh Hingham or you risk the wrath of Tarutao!  This is good for me to learn.  As I love to collect rocks from every little place I go.

Heck, I even snag pebbles from the parking lot of The Dollar General.  Rock Junkie.

But back to learning.  There is so much to figure out.  About the all of it.  And thankfully…. human beings are uniquely adapted to learn and can learn throughout their lifespan.

Most all, I think, is the heart.

Our heart can continue to learn, and grow.  And through that, we can figure out how to be the best we can be.  I truly think we are here to create love and goodness.  So we grow our hearts, we learn the ways.  We KNOW how we feel….when we are acting and living, in a kind and caring way.  And, we know when we are NOT doing the right thing.

Yes, learning is a good thing.  No matter where, when, or who we are.  To Grow.
So until next time, I’m off to learn something new.
