Seven reasons you’re better off

It has been quite some time since I’ve last written here. Wouldn’t you know? And a great deal has happened. The earth has spun completely around on its axis seven times. And this big blue ball has seen hurricanes, flooding, earthquakes, and forest fires. Thankfully, the majority of us are experiencing mostly normal weather. Nonetheless, things have been catastrophic in many places, and many people are finding their lives in chaos and toil.

Then there are the matters of things political. The whole big tangled ball of yarn. A great, big huge tangle. And not a knitting needle to be found.

All of this, is above and beyond what each of us is experiencing in our “up-close-and- personal” lives. Troubles at work, kids with runny noses and lots of homework, money woes, leaky faucets, flat tires, and most likely, bowel troubles.

It can feel overwhelming. I’ve heard a lot of people say as much. We look to the news and social media, and shake our heads. We wring our hands, in frustration. So much is going on, and apparently, so little we can do to stop any one of these things. There are charities, and petitions, depending on the thing. But no magic bullet. No easy solution.

And there it is. As hard as we wish… … . that we could wish it all away…. we can not.   Life is what happens in every click and turn of the planet. Each moment brings another course.

There is a saying, that goes, “No one said that life is fair.” But I’m not so sure about that one. Maybe “fair” and “unfair” is not how we should view things at all. Perhaps it should be more like, “No matter what kind of crap is hitting the fan, there is probably something to be thankful for. Like. At least the fan is working.”

No matter what the experience, whether it is viewed as “good” or “bad” — it is a part of the path. It comes along, while we are on our way from Point A to Point B. These are our lives. We can resist, and put up a wall. But that “thing” will still be there. Or. We can accept what is before us, and learn and grow.

It may not be easy, but we will find our greatest peace by giving acceptance. Our hearts and minds will know calm. And then we can stand on this earth with firm feet, while the ball spins round and round.
