Yoowwwwwch.

Oh, the New Year.

Yes, here it is.  2017.   Can you imagine.  Doesn’t it seem like good old Y2K was only yesterday?  Now we are nearly 20 years out.  Holy Smack-er-oly.

But back to the New Year, and all it brings.  Primarily, for most people… it packs a bunch of Resolutions.

I have never been one for making the NYR.  New Year’s Resolution… since we are now in the ages of the Acronym.  NYRs.

Lose 10 pounds.  Work out.  Get a promotion.  Get a new car.  Who knows?

I do know THIS.  My email inbox has been flooded with the gamut of helpers.  Best diets.  Niftiest workouts.  Make-your-life-better advice.  Magic sprinkles and Easy-Peasy’s.  Your life will be VASTLY improved and it is JUST a click away.

I’ve done the diets and the workouts in my life.  Not necessarily at New Year’s, but I have gone through the lot of them.  These days, the workouts have slowed to a crawl, just about.  And I eat the things I like the most.  Repeatedly.

But this all started with today’s inbox.  The title of this “Get WELL” mail blast was… “Want to eliminate back pain for GOOD?  Do these Yoga poses every day.”  And then the photo shows a woman smiling.  However, she looks a little bit like a Dutch Pretzel.  Her arms and legs are contorted in ways that humans might want to think twice about contorting.

Does one really need to tuck a leg behind one’s neck while the arms are folded backwards and slightly disjointed at the shoulders?

I mean, Holy Cow of Cows.  I never even tried these things in the womb, and there was not a great deal of wiggle room in there.  However, I distinctly remember keeping my arms…. and legs…. inside the ride.

I’m sure the Yoga People can tell me the benefits of putting my ankle bone next to my C2 vertebrae.    But I am pretty sure that is NOT how the bone-song goes.  Or my body… for that matter.

The ankle bone’s connected to the leg bone….

Oh yes it is.  And for good reason.

Certainly, I say all this in jest.  I know that fitness does a human good.  And it comes in all shapes, forms, and sizes.  The key is… finding what works for you.

And such is life.  Our bodies.  Our minds. Our spirits.   I think every person has to find their own way, which makes good sense in our hearts.

And wouldn’t the world be a better place… if everyone paid more attention to what makes good sense in our hearts.  Now THAT is  a Resolution.

However.  You won’t be convincing me to put my knees on my shoulder blades.  Not for Yogi Bear, or anyone else.  At least.   Not willfully.
