Who you calling now?

hghghgosts

Tonight we watched the new Ghostbusters movie.  Well, not so new  anymore.  DVDish new. It had its moments, but it could not compare to the first one.   I won’t do the whole spoiler thing, in case you haven’t seen it.

But …. oh my goodness…..  you won’t believe the end.

I’m joking. You will believe the end.  It is pretty dang predictable.

Movies.  I love them, but they are a real roll of the dice. Sometimes simply outstanding… like… The Usual Suspects…. or The Incredibles.   The scope and range of great movies is far and wide.

On the other end of the spectrum.  They can be every bit as bad.  The kind that you watch… and then you say… “Well.  There went two hours of my life that I will never get back again.”  Makes you want to take up smoking again.

Or not.

Ghostbusters:  Answer The Call… fell somewhere in between.

Now the premise of it was cool.  I sure do love a good ghost story.  And they are everywhere this time of year… as we approach the coolest and strangest holiday… Halloween.

But back to the movie.  One of the lines Melissa McCarthy delivers is…. something like…. “Hey Mister.  We only comprehend 4% of the Universe. That’s it Mister.  Four percent.”

Well.  That is absolutely true.  Everything that we know about… or more succintly… that scientists CAN see, measure, study… is only 4 % of the grand total of the Universe.  We think.  The number is small.  All the stars, planets and galaxies that can be seen today only make up just 4 percent of the universe.

That is it. The other 96 percent is made of “stuff” that astronomers can’t see, detect or even comprehend. These mysterious substances are called dark energy and dark matter.  The unknown.

Is it more of the same?  Just further away?  I think not.  I think it is the higher levels of energy, and time looping itself.  Which has all been theorized.  Yep.  The good old unknown.  It is a little scary…. maybe.

I wonder how often that dimension crosses over to the one we know.  And it is those times.. when we have the “unexplained”…. here on little pimple on the butt of the Universe… called Earth.

I don’t bet we will ever know for sure.

But if something strange & unexplained  ever happens to me….  … I know just who I’m gonna’ call.  Ghostbusters.
