Which is it. Or not.

Is there such a thing as destiny, or is it all random happenstance? I think the peoples are split on their opinions about this. Some think there is the hidden power which exists and it controls what will happen in the future. In other words, a predestined fate. Written down somewhere in a Golden Book of Outcomes. Others believe it is random clumsiness. Coincidence. That this whole existence is all made, and done, and happening, without any sort of method. It occurs without any conscious decision.

I won’t say which I believe is true. Because I don’t know.

Everything is constantly changing and different. I do know that. Some days we are happier than others. Some days we are just plain sad. Or it could be that it feels rough around the edges. Other times the time flows a smoothly as silk.

If I wrote poetry, I might give it a try. In an attempt to describe these fluctuations of mood, and character. Or happenings.

It is like riding the ferris wheel. One minute, you are at the top, with the wind in your hair, looking out for miles and miles. Smiling. Pointing. Picking the bugs from your teeth. And the next moment you are down below, under the belly of the wheel, seeing the greasy gears grinding and lurching.

Those greasy-gear-grinding kind of days. Those cotton-candy, win-the-stuffed animal kind of days.

One thing is for certain, we don’t know what’s ahead. The outcome of the day is as uncertain as a roll of the dice.

We can hope for the best though. Sometimes, I think this helps. To keep the old chin up. A bright outlook and a cheerful disposition. Envision good things. Other times, it seems like the nicest people get the toughest blows. With no rhyme or reason.

Either way. There are times when it comes down to this. If you really want soft serve ice cream, with chucks of peanut butter and chocolate mixed in — in the super-sized cup, with M&Ms on top, and whipped cream for good measure — you can sit around and envision it. Hope for it. Or conversely, you can drive to the Coldstone Creamery and buy one.

Either way. If that is what you want, that is what I hope.
