What’s your bag?

I am not an inventor. By any means of my little imagination. I simply don’t have it in me. Some people are constantly inventing, and scheming, and finding new ways of doing things. I have a sister-in-law this way. She often has these “Million Dollar Ideas” in her head. She’ll say, “They need to invent a little hand on the end of that mop, so when you go to rinse it, you…. blah, blah, blah.” And her suggestions are always brilliant. They would work. Sometimes, they DO. We have, on occasion, seen them come around, where someone else finally processed the same idea.

But not me. No inventing here. No. I am a worker bee. Work. Work. Work. Tell me how something needs to be done, and I will do THAT. To the letter. And I will keep doing THAT, until the task is finished.

So I began to wonder why some people do, and some people don’t…. invent. And then, finally, I came to the obvious conclusion. I attributed it to their Signs. As in, Signs of the Zodiac.

You see, I am a Taurus. The Bull. Earth sign. Grounded. Home. Here is what those astrologists say about a Taurus… “Smart, ambitious, and trustworthy, Taurus is the anchor of the Zodiac. Amazing friends, colleagues, and partners, Taureans value honesty above all else and are proud that their personal relationships tend to be drama free. Bulls get the reputation of being stubborn, but they’re not always stuck in their ways.”

I do not see Inventor anywhere in there.

Now, let us explore another Sign. Say. Aquarius. Aquarians present themselves in one of two ways. From the Horoscope Page: “One on hand, you’ll see someone who is shy, and quiet. On the other, an Aquarian can be boisterous, eccentric, and energetic. Both are deep thinkers with a love of helping others. Highly intellectual, this is a sign of fierce independence that prizes intuition tempered with logic. Both personality types have an uncanny ability to see both sides of an argument without prejudice, making them excellent problem-solvers.”

THERE, I see Inventor. So I looked up some great inventors. Of the Top 15 Inventors in History, the following were Aquarians.

Thomas Edison.
James Watt.
Galileo Galilei.
Archimedes.

Now THOSE are some pretty big hitters.

How about ARIES?
From the Zodiac Gurus: “The first sign of the Zodiac, Aries are the trailblazers. Passionate and independent, Aries will never do something just because everyone else is doing it—a Ram needs to be 100 percent committed to the task at hand. Competitive to the max, the best way to motivate an Aries is to turn something into a contest. Aries will put everything they have (and then some) into winning. Loyal, smart, and impulsive, they always have multiple projects on their mind, and won’t be satisfied until their work, social life, and personal lives line up exactly with the dream life they’ve envisioned.”

And the Inventors?
Johannes Gutenberg
Wilbur Wright
Leonardo Da Vinci

More big guns.

There were no Taurus-Types on the TOP 15. Nope. Not a one. I could not invent my way out of a paper bag. If someone told me to punch, I would punch. Otherwise, I would just be standing around in a paper bag with the rest of the Bulls.

There would be no running of the Bulls, as we would all be standing there. In the bag. Without the cats. Because someone let the cat out of the bag.

And since the cat was out. Obviously, it is not a Doggy Bag. Just a regular old paper bag. With a bunch of Taurus-Non-Inventing-Types, standing inside. Still waiting for someone to tell us to punch our way out. Like we do.

Today, may we all follow our own talents and our own dreams. Whatever they may be.
