What’s the word.

Word. Words can be powerful things. Spoken, written, even plastered on a billboard… high in the sky, in big bold letters. They will give us instructions on how to put batteries in our new clock, or express to another human being our innermost feelings. They can fill secrets with every juicy detail. Words will permeate our hearts with love. Or, they can make us quiver in the wake of hatred.

How does it go? The pen is mightier than the sword. Or a Tweet. You can have a WAY with words, or a WAR of words. When we speak them out loud… those words transform into frequency and vibration. And that energy goes out into the world immediately. They can be used to harm or heal those around us. Out of the mouths of babes…. and out of the mouths of those who know better.

Words have been around since humans plopped onto the scene, whether we slugged up from the primordial ooze, or dropped out of a garden with an apple on top.

The written word has a long history too. The Sumerian language is one of the earliest known written languages. It came into being around 3300 BC. As I said. A long, long time. The oldest document of the proto-literate period is something called the Kish tablet. And now our words fill other kinds of tablets.

Words. They can linger in the air like a heavy, thick, and burdened smog. Or they can whisper away into a fine mist, never to be known again.

There are not enough words to write about words. We could trade them, one for one, but that would not be enough. Because, when you put those words together, they can become anything. Anything at all. They can be honorable and true, or they can become the most detestable lies. The power is owned by the one to use those words. As tools, or as torment.

But the thing about words is this. They affect. And we must choose them carefully. We should use them, not to make things worse. or harm. But to question. And then to answer. To offer solutions. To lead the way.

Our words.
