Two tales

In the past couple of days, two friends have told me two very different stories.

The first. A woman explained the delight of finding her birth father after 56 years. A joyful meeting. I cried at this story.

The second. A man relayed the sadness of losing his young daughter to cancer. A grim departure.  I cried at this story too.

Both remind me that nothing is permanent.

Today, I will be thankful for the things that are with me now.
I will also be grateful for the things that have gone.
