The true flutter

Whenever we get outside our normal “element” or the daily routine, it makes us more aware of the world around us.  Not only that, it gives us a big reminder about the vastness of this place in which we live.  This earth.

When we travel, we see new sights, hear different sounds, encounter many unique people and think lots of thoughts.  But if we are lucky, it sparks the twinkle in our hearts.

Today, as we walked around Savannah, I couldn’t help but to notice all of this. Especially the people.

We are certainly quite the group, aren’t we.  All so different, as so much alike.

Sidebar. Sort of.

One thing we are noticing on this particular trip, especially this evening, are the revelers.  Apparently, Savannah host one of the biggest St. Patty’s Day Parties in the world.  And rumor has it, their St. Patrick’s Day Parade is the 2nd largest in the United States, running right behind New York City.

I am beginning to believe it.  Yesterday, the festivities kicked off with the “greening of the fountains” and also the evening 5K Lucky Shamrock Run.  I’m not sure that is what it is truly called, but it sounds like it fits.

People are converging on this town, sporting little green Leprechaun hats, and four-leaf-clover EVERYTHING.  Open container drinking is allowed on Public Streets, which adds to the intensity of the Irish Party Vibe.

Since I am of German descent, I find that I don’t have much in the way of Irish roister.  But watching them makes for good Real-Life-TV, I’ll tell you.

George Eliot once said….“It is never too late to be what you might have been.”   I would like to add that it is “never too late to be what others are not.”

Thankfully.

But back to the original thought.

There is a lot which can be said for the exploration of the new.  It is good to be playful. I love to be of good nature. And fun.  It used to be a lot easier for me.  These days, I seem much too serious about things.

So I say to myself… “Lighten up PK.”  It is good to let our imaginations take us places where no human has ever gone before.  Seriously.  It is good to feel that sparkle in our inners.

I guess we are better off, at all times, when we simply follow our hearts.  Play when we need to play.  Hunker down, when the situation calls for it.  Be serious.  Be sad.  Be happy. Be filled with joy.  Be angry.  Be filled with wonder.

But no matter, what it is, be you.  And me, be me.  And let us never, ever, lose the sparkle in our hearts, the spring in our step, and the wind in our imaginations…. to carry us far.
