The new leafage

I’m not an inventor. Sometimes, I figure out something fresh. But it isn’t often. A worker bee, is me.

And certainly I am not an entrepreneur. But the other day, I was thinking. I had an idea for a chain of Elvis Presley steak houses. It will be for people who love meat tender.

Love meat tender.

Okay, okay. I’ll be serious for a minute.

A lot of people start new workout schemes once the New Year rolls around. This always cracks me up. I mean, you can start at any time. And that is me. Yesterday, I decided to take up Boxing. You heard me. Boxing. The first day was tough though. After a grueling workout, I was so tired, that I decided to drink a glass of punch and hit the sack.

Glass of punch. Hit the sack.

Oh enough already.

One thing that I really do a lot of this time of year is cleaning. There just seems to be a lot more messes happening in our home, around Christmas. Why just the other day, the floor was so dusty, that it seemed to be suffering from sweep deprivation.

But my load has lessened. Ever since I switched to wrinkle free shirts my laundry issues have been less pressing. But my pants are always a mess. Having rumpled clothing is a pressing issue, but I am sure that I can iron out a solution.

Truly though, after the New Year, I am going to look for a new line of work. Something different. I’ve started looking around a bit. I applied for a job as a weatherman, but my knowledge of meteorology was a little cloudy.

Then there is the whole teaching thing. It wouldn’t take much for me to go back to school for a bit, and come out with my Masters in Education. But these days. Whew. Such a thing, to be a teacher. I mean, take the example of my teacher-friend. She could use two typewriters at one time, but she got fired for stereotyping.

Another route, I suppose, would be to follow my science background. Of course, I’d have to brush up on some things. Chemistry. Biology. A friend of mine said she did not understand cloning. I told her that makes two of us.

Two of us.

Clearly. The truth of things is this. I’ve been working down at the quarry. Yes. The one down here, near Camden. But I lost my job there. I guess you could say I’ve hit rock bottom.

And. Here we are. Rock bottom seems to be where I’ve hit.

Which reminds me of my sordid past. But I learned my lesson. And I will pass on a bit of this wisdom to you.

Never take a nail to a bar. They tend to get hammered.
