The Big Win.

This was a “get it done” kind of day for me.  I moved from one task, to the next.  It felt pretty good to make that big list in the morning, and by the day’s end, to have crossed off most of the items.

And in the fray of it, I forgot that Levi had a soccer game. He is our oldest grandson.  More importantly than being our grandson, he is a very cool human being.

So on to the game.  I was able make it for the first half of his game tonight.

And. They got clobbered. They frequently do.

Which… actually…..   makes him an even cooler human being.

He plays for his high school.  National Trail.   The Orange and Brown.  The Trail Blazers.

In the past few years, they have not been able to amass very many wins.  In fact, I think they may have won one or two games last year.

It is not for lack of trying.  They just have a few cards in the deck which have been stacked against them.   Despite it, they go out, game after game… practice after practice, and try.  They show up.  Even when things continue to be difficult.

There is a lot to be said for that in life too.

Yes.  When people show up.  Even when it isn’t under the best circumstances.  There is something quite admirable about someone who is committed, loyal, and dedicated.   The unswerving.

So tonight….. it wasn’t so much about winning the game.
You see. In my book, they already had.
