The rut. The mundane. We all know it and say it. Hump Day has its own commercial. Thank God Its Friday got its own restaurant. We clock in, and we clock out. It seems that money makes the world go round. And when that happens…. we humans get caught up in the rat race…. don’t you know.

But we are human. Yes, it is true… Sometimes, it is hard to try and make ends meet. I know this… because many times in my life… I have had to make ends meet. Those unmeetable ends…. they would have to join up in clandestine passage ways, and in the shadows, and in the bargaining, and the begging.

But in spite of this, as I said, we are human. Wouldn’t it be better to be caught up in the human race, and not the rat race?

How? Well now, that truly is the golden question. Life can be a real balancing act. Of holding on, and letting go. Of playing it safe, and swinging way out on the edge of the earth.

There are times when I feel so stuck in the routine. And there are other times, when I stop right in my tracks, and get completely overwhelmed with the wonder of this world. The magic. The beauty. The total glory of it all.

So, where and how do we find the balance, of the grinding responsibilities which fall on so many days? The answer is most likely different for every person.

But it completely amazes me, when you meet someone who gets all of it. Profoundly. Even though they have faced complete adversity. It was Anne Frank who once said… “Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy. ”

It leaves me speechless. Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy. Those might be some of the wisest words I’ve ever heard.

I can only hope to be that spiritually perceptive someday. And the journey continues.
