Shrrrroooomy.

I took this photo some time ago.  It has been at least a month.

I am a pretty big fan of the vegetable.  Any of them.  All of them.  Most people consider the mushroom a veggie, but truly, it is not.  And, technically mushrooms aren’t even plants. They are a special type of fungus.  You see… they really don’t have any leaves.  And no roots …. or seeds.  And basically, they don’t need light to grow.   Soooo ….. they are not really a true vegetable.

But nutritionally they line up with veggies.

They also come in many shapes and sizes.  And they have different jobs too.  Most of the time, we just use the run-of-the-mills.  Some times we ask…. Who gives a Shitake?    People use other kinds of mushrooms to see the spectacular.
And they are wildly popular in certain video games like Super Mario Brothers.

At any rate.  There they are.  I opened a package from the grocery, and this monster popped out.  It was one of the biggest mushrooms I had ever seen.  But apparently, this one is a shrimp.

In 2010, a guy in England found a mushroom which was a 66.5-inch puffball.  That’s about as tall as me.  That’s a pretty big Port in your Portabello.  More recently, a guy found a 15-pound Puffball up in Ontario this past year.  Either way… the one I found in the produce section didn’t come close.

There are a lot of wonders in the food world.

This next one is No Yolk.  Literally.  I never knew this before today, but every so often, a chicken will give you and egg with out the magic inside.  Yep. An egg without an yolk.

Yolkless eggs are actually common enough that chicken keepers have a number of names for them.  Not this chicken keeper.  But other chicken keepers.  They have been called things like fairy egg, witch egg, rooster egg, oops eggs, dwarf egg, wind egg, and, most commonly, fart egg.   Fart eggs.

Sometimes, I think these farming articles are jerking us around.  Like 101 proven cow-tipping methods.   Back to the Fart Egg.  This last name derives from the theory that the eggs are produced by chicken farts.   Apparently, since we do not feed our chickens Pork’n’Beans… this is not a problem.

I think the Food Planets are lining up crazy right now.  I mean, just this morning, I saw a Twitter Feed from a Deep-Sea Fisherman in Russia.  He has posted photos of all these crazy fish, and ocean creatures, that he has pulled in during his deep-sea-fishing outings.  The photos scared the chicken eggs out of me.

I guess it just goes to show you that there are a million wonders in this world.  Many of them are unbeknownst to the most us.  From flying squirrels to the Basilisk lizard… a little dude who walks on water.

We live in the midst of the mystery, these phenomena, this extraordinary existence.

We are a part of this vast system of connected energy.  This system carries an underlying intelligence and complexity of power which we will probably never understand fully.

Albeit, a Fart Egg does not sound like the stand-out-product of this complexity…. but none-the-less…. it truly is the miracle of the minute.

And. So are we.

Yep.  We are a part of this all-connected universe, and we should joyfully welcome all these facets… which make this life the beautiful thing that it is.
