Charisma.  Some people have it.  Others simply… do not.

It is a word that was derived in the middle 17th century.  It means “a sense” which comes from the  ecclesiastical Latin from the Greek word….kharisma, from kharis.  And that word root is “favor” or “grace.”

Favor. Grace. A Sense.

You know when you walk in the room when someone has Charisma.  They have a charm, a certain presence.  A winning personality.

Different people have different kinds too.  Some are gregarious.  Others are alluring.  And still others hold a sort of magnetism.

People always seem to do it better on TV and in the movies.  You know how it goes.  When Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan finally hook up in Sleepless in Seattle.  Or the friendship that is struck in Boys on the Side between Drew Barrymore, Whoopi Goldberg, and Mary-Louise Parker.

I don’t know why those two movies came to mind, but they did.  Obviously, the on screen charisma left its impression on me.

Even more so, when you meet someone in real life.

Genuineness.  That is the key.  There is a big gulley between true Charisma  and Fakey-Schmoooze.  Not even a fine line, but a big old gaping chasm.

I know quite a few people who do the fakey-schmooooze.  It can wear a person out.  Well.  It wears me out.

But the Charismatic.  I think, they rock.
I suppose they have a pretty good understanding of their own personal spirit and energy.  A confidence.  An inner collectedness.  A exceptional core.

I’m not saying that dull, colorless, boring people don’t have firm grip on their inner energy and spirit.  Not at all.  You just can’t tell, one way or the other.

I mean, I think my dogs are charismatic. And,…  annnnndddddd….. and….

Does someone have a shovel?  So I can dig this hole a little deeper.

I better quit this mess before I dig myself all the way to China.

We live in a wonderful world that is full of beauty, charm and adventure. There is no end to the adventures that we can have if only we seek them with our eyes open.

There is no personal charm so great as the charm of a cheerful temperament.

There is no charm equal to tenderness of heart.
