On the road

I had to drive over to Dayton early this morning. I love to crank up music in my car. Alternative is my favorite. But sometimes, I just like to have perfect quiet in the car. Today was one of those days.

The sound of silence. It gives you time to think. And a lot crosses my mind when I do this. Thankfully.

Some of today’s observations. I was drinking a soda at one point. From a can. I thought it would have been better if we humans had started recycling a long, long time ago. Then I wondered if I have ever recycled something… and then got it back again…. in some new form?

At one of the stop lights, I grabbed my phone and texted someone about some work that was being done at home. Then it hit me. I’ve had an iPhone for ten years. I am not any better at typing on a phone key pad than I was 10 years ago. Zero improvement. I am in awe of the speed-texters.

I wear glasses to see that texting. And I wear glasses to see mid and long distance. Transitional lenses. I need them now, as my eyesight has really diminished in the past five years. I was thinking that it must have been really crummy living with poor eyesight …. before the invention of glasses. But they have been around a long time. Their invention is believed to be somewhere between 1268 and 1289 in Italy.

When I got to my destination, I locked my car. I always do. My car locks after one click on the key chain remote. But that never matters. I still do it three more times. I am not sure why.

When I got home, Ollie greeted me. We went outside and played for a little minute. Ran around in the grass, and such. I saw a clover patch. I think we should all start giving four-leaf-clovers a break. Everyone is always ripping them out of the ground when they see one. It probably gets old, for their species.

Yeah. The things I think. You know…. I never had kids of my own. Which made me think that I had done those children a very big favor by not having them. In more ways than one.
