Nice to meet you.

I met this horse, at the Fairgrounds.  It has been quite some time.  Maybe a couple of years ago, or maybe more.  It was at a Horse Show.

Come to think of it….  that was my first Horse Show.  How does Dr. Phil say it… “Well son, this ain’t my first Rodeo.”  Well… it was MY first rodeo.

When I heard we were going to a Horse Show, I thought there might be singing or dancing.  Or even a Kick Line.  They warned me about the kick line.  Don’t walk behind a horse.  Got it.  Kick Lines… BAD.  Walking behind horse… BAD.

Anyway.  I met this horse.  I can’t remember if it was a girl horse, or a boy horse.  And obviously I don’t remember his / her name.  But I do remember this.  I liked that Horse a lot.  I even asked him / her if I could take his / her picture.

(ENOUGH with the his / her.  I am calling this horse Floyd from here out.  He. Boy horse. Floyd.)

So.  I asked Floyd if I could take his picture.  And his human said… “Oh sure, go ahead, it is fine with me.”

She was a great lady.  But I didn’t ask her if she wanted her photo taken.  I asked Floyd.  At any rate, I looked him deep in the eye.. and he gave me the old head-nod.  So I shot him.

But the thing I remember the most…. is simply liking this horse… just because.  He merely had a way about him.  He seemed…. well….. he seemed nice.

I guess we can just tell.  We know what we know.  We know when we find someone we like.  We “get it” when we want to be around a person.  We realize when it feels good to be with someone. Conversely, we also understand it isn’t much fun to be with an big old frumpy grumpy pants.  Yet. We can see when someone emits light.  Warm like the sun.

I think it was Maya Angelou who said… “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

So it goes with Floyd.  So it goes with the good people.

Okay, next to this photo.  These are some cows I met….  and I liked those cows.  But, it is getting late, isn’t it?  I guess that’s a story for another night.  But be sure to remember that second one from the left, I’ll tell you.  Holy Schizemits.
