My night off

Beautyakday snowwwwwy tuuuulipppeeee

Everybody needs a night off.

Or a day off.

You get my meaning.  Like the McDonald’s slogan used to sing… “You deserve a break today… so get up and get away… to McDonald’s…”

Are you loving it?

At any rate, I figure I will take tonight off, and not really write anything.

Except… … well… a couple of things are bugging me.

First of all, it is the terrorist guy in Belgium.  I wish the Media would stop calling Mohamed Abrini … “the man in the hat.”  For a few different reasons.

  1. A lot of people wear hats.
  2. Paddington the Bear wore a hat.  My Sock Monkeys wear hats. Dr. Seuss wore a hat.  And so did the cat.  The one in the hat.
  3. AND, most importantly, Curious George’s best pally was “The Man in the Yellow Hat.”

I just don’t want people thinking that The Man in the Yellow Hat is the “man in the hat” terrorist, or that somehow, Curious George might be involved.  Now granted, Curious George DID grab a hold of that Big Bunch of Balloons at the park that day.  And he DID sort of fly over restricted airspace during the incident.  But it was totally unintentional.  I stand by George the little monkey.  And all little monkeys. Even the sock variety, as you very well know.  The ones in the hats.

The other thing that has been on my mind is the weather.  We had a mild, mild winter.  I cannot complain one iota about the winter here in Camden, Ohio.  However.  Spring started Sunday, March 20.  Spring.  The season where things get green and flowers start to grow.  Even if I don’t know a Petunia from a Poppy.

So….. yesterday, we had a LOT of snow.  And ice.  It barely got above freezing.  We’ve had hard freeze warnings several nights in a row.  It was April 9th by my calendar.  Dang it. Spring has not sprung by my calculations. What the heck.  Mild winter or not, at this point, I am counting on swimsuit weather until October.  I shall begin complaining about Spring unless it starts shaping up.

There.  I’ve got that off my chest.  Not that I feel better about it.  That old weather does what it dang well pleases. No help from me.

In fact, that is the way of the world.  The entire universe.  The all of it.  We are right back to this same old message.  Again.

It all goes round and round, in it’s good time, just as it was set in motion to do.

We truthfully have no control over what comes to us in the next moment.  Be it the weather, or the knock at the door.

All the same, we CAN control how we react to it.  For the most part.  But that is where our influence ends.  With ourselves.  It seems a lot of us look to the seeking. (I know I sure do.)   We are always waiting…. Waiting for it to get warmer, or to win the lottery, or to lose 10 pounds, or to get a new house.  But looking for the next best thing,  makes us lose sight of what is right in front of us.  This simple now.

So much for the wishing the weather away.

And back to my original intention.  Just wanted to let you know, I am taking the night off from writing.

I’m going to go read a Curious George book, I think.  I just want to make sure “The Man in the Yellow Hat” is still in there.
