Move it, or lose it.

The ups and downs of writing a Blog. Most of you know, I don’t really like to call it a Blog. I guess by Webster’s definition, it truly is a Blog: “a regularly updated website or web page, typically one run by an individual or small group, that is written in an informal or conversational style.”

Okay. So it is a Blog. But, somehow, that doesn’t seem to fit in my mind. It is more like Tea and Crumpets. Or, Water Cooler Antics. Perhaps, a Train Wreck would be a better description. Whatever it is, we all slow down for a minute, just to visit. Call it what you will.

Last night, Kid Wednesday hit a glitch. As with any creative online endeavor, it has to have a house. Somewhere. So I “house” this thing with a Web Hosting Company. And lately, they’ve been telling me that my attic, my basement, and my garage are getting full. I either had to get rid of some of my “stuff,” or I had to move.

Sunday was moving day.

It didn’t go so well.

They sold me a new house, but they wouldn’t give me any keys.

It took the better part of two days, but I finally re-keyed the locks and made some new keys of my own. And I am in.

I started this thing back in January of 2009. My first installment was called Project 372. Since that time, it has morphed into different titles, and moved to various new houses. But Kid Wednesday took over the “title” in October of 2015. Time flies.

Life continues to teach me lessons. That is the bottom line here. This was the main thing about the entire altercation. And. It was, in fact, an altercation. They don’t include a chapter in the Blogger’s Handbook of Life’s Greatest Secrets, about migrating a 15-gigabyte file, while the Help Line on the other end, is a world away. Physically, and mentally.

I went into this thing with the highest expectation that it would all transition smoothly. Then. Things went to Heck in a Handbasket. I had moments of sheer panic about losing ALL this work (and play), for the past nine years. Even the system backups had disappeared.  So then I had to roll up my sleeves and troubleshoot. They call it troubleshooting because you run into trouble, and then you say, “Ahhh Shooooot.” Or worse. Through all of my spitballing, I figured out some new skills, and discovered a myriad of “the ins and outs.”

Nonetheless, I learned from this. The REAL trick is, remembering what I’ve learned. And implementing these lessons the next time around. Not with this particular task (because it will all change so very much by the next time I have to do this).

But with essential life lessons. Pay attention. Work hard. Use logic. Stay positive. Be kind.

And.

Believe.
