Loser Chickens.

dudder

I don’t where to begin tonight.

A lot felt pretty crappy today.

Crappy awful.
No prize-in-the-bottom-of-the-Cracker-Jack-Box crappy.
No Tootsie-Roll-Center-in-the-center-of-the-Tootsie-Pop crappy.
No yolk-in-the-center-of-the-chicken-egg crappy.

As if the obvious reasons were not enough, when I finally DID turn on the TV this morning, I saw the political race results popping up, in a red banner, at the bottom of the screen.  A few flipped by, before I started paying attention.  And then… the very first one I read… announced clearly:
Huber Heights Chickens.   No. 57%  Yes. 43%

Okay. This is bad.  No.  To Chickens?  In Huber Heights?  What is this world coming to?  Who can say no to a chicken?

About an hour later, I had an appointment.  While in the restroom, Christmas music came piping through the ceiling speakers.  It is November 9th.  We have not even killed the Turkeys yet.   Deck the Halls.

I have felt like crying today. About a lot.

But as the day has worn on, something remarkable has happened.  So many people have been reaching out and sharing love, and kindness and peace.  Mary reminded me tonight that we both voted Love.   Now we have to lead by example, and continue to show love.

Some amazing people throughout history have spoken about acting with love an kindness.  In the midst of her captivity, Anne Frank once said…. “Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy.”

And Buddha, once said…”What we think, we become.”  Standing beside him, in spirit, was Norman Vincent Peale, who noted… “Change your thoughts and you change your world.”

Again, I say… today…. people have reached out to me.  So many, to so many others.

“There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.” Wise words from Edith Wharton

For all that has gone wrong today, for all the people we are considering in a new way, and all the relationships we are questioning…. yes… there may be a need to ask.  But with all the lowness, there is an even greater position.  A higher place.  A great posterity.  There are a lot of good people in the world.  A lot .
And….  “The best thing to hold onto in life is each other.”  ( Audrey Hepburn  )

So hold on.  And may we… who treat this world with love… may we… join in peace, with one another.
