Hue guessed it

We certainly are in the thick of summer. My favorite time of year, as I’ve mentioned so many times before. Right now, things are so green and yellow, and pink, red, orange, blue, and lush. The colors of this time of year are beautiful in their own leisure.

Many people love the colors of the fall, but the summer colors are equally as brilliant.  At least,  in my little tiny teeny opinion. The sun is directly over us right now, where we sit on this planet. Which makes for warmer days and gives us a light that we don’t have for the rest of the year around. It casts a hue on things, especially in the evening hours.

We will not know on another day like this one.  Ever after, or ever before. The light that I am seeing right now, is unique in this very moment and will never be repeated.  Not exactly.  That is something to just breathe in and think about.

So goes a lot of things in our lives. Each moment that we experience in life is unlike any other we have experienced ever before, and it is unlike any that we will ever know in the future. That in itself, no matter what the moment is, should be appreciated on some level. This morning, as the fog blanketed our part of the world, I shared breakfast with my brother.  And. Tonight I saw a flower that looks like a color pinwheel. How about those two things?  They were beautiful. This is the only time these things will happen.  As they did.  As we were.  As we look across the room and see the person that we love…..  sitting right across from us…  we should  take the time to really see this.

It’s all part of the wonder, if we can have the presence, in the present, to notice.

But.  Sometimes this is easier said than done. For a good part of this today,  I was not feeling at the top of my game. Mostly because of  a poor night’s sleep, and a few other unknown variables. When we physically or mentally don’t feel good, it is hard to notice the goodness.  Like when you have had a major surgery, or a broken bone, or cancer, or extreme grief, or a hundred other things.   But that goodness…..  that marvel…. is still there, waiting for us to come around.

Every chance we get, we should work on coming around. To notice the wonder, to notice the good things, to notice the beauty. To notice the sun as it is right now and never will be again.

Sometimes it was everything.”
