Happy Walking Backwards

I love a good quote as much as anyone.  In fact, after I blather on here for a while, I try to slap a quote or two, on the butt of this thing.

I do this….. so that readers aren’t completely disappointed after they’ve paid so much for their ticket to get in here.

At any rate, I always root around a little bit for a good one.  A good quote, that is.

One that always comes up… almost daily… is the old whacky one: “Do one thing every day that scares you.”  And they they typically put it with a cute little picture of a figure skydiving, or they show a plane and a parachute.

Well… in my mind… that is not a very good graphic for the quote…. or otherwise.  I mean… if you are sporting a parachute on a plane…. one of two things has occurred.  Either 1. there is a big malfunction with the plane; OR 2. there is a big malfunction with the space between your ears.

Then I got to thinking. “For crying out loud.  I do tons of things each day which scare the holy-heck out of me.”  Like… going to Walmart… especially on a weekend.  Sometimes, it can be worse than watching the movie, “Night of the Living Dead.”  Or another scary thing….. how about …. turning on the TV for the morning news.

Sometimes, I do things which scare me and I didn’t have that intention going in.  Like flipping through the stations on the radio, and happening on a Talk Radio Show of certain varieties.  Now… that really terrifies me.  Or… opening a Tupperware container in the fridge, and not knowing what once happily existed inside.

But back to the quote.  Most of the times it lists the author as Anonymous.  No wonder.  I mean… I wouldn’t claim that quote if I were the one who said it.  What good is doing something that scares you every day? For some of us… simply looking in the mirror can be enough.

So… I’ve decided to write my own quotes from time to time.
And here are a couple to get you rolling for 2016.

“Eat more chicken eggs.”

“Winning isn’t everything.  There is also losing, and tying.”

And finally…
“Do something every day which makes you happy.  Happy… like the kind of happy… which makes you want to do the Moonwalk if you could.”
