Flux. Not Rapid Re. Just Flux.

How do I handle change?
Typically… I put it in the parking meter.  Or the Coke Machine.

Oh yes. My brother reminded me the other day…. that everything changes.  So very true.  It is all changing at this very moment.  Every little thing in the Universe… at this exact second… is changing.

Whoops.  There it goes again.

Every cell in your body.  Changing.  Every molecule in the cushion upon which your butt is sitting.  Changing.  Every drop in that cup of coffee.  Yep.  Ch-ch-changing.

Change is simply… a part of the flow of life.  You would think we would be used to it by now.  But most of the time…we resist.  Or… at the very least… we don’t like it.

When something changes, in a direction different than we want it to, we get emotional.  Sometimes angry, sometimes sad, or frustrated, or despondent.  We often act resistant to a change that comes out of nowhere… and was thrust upon us.  We didn’t ask for it, or want it.  But there it is.

Life.  Impermanence is the very heart of life actually.  We could not live without impermanence.   It makes life possible.  A seed can’t grow without change.  Rain can’t be made without change.  A child can’t be born without impermanence.

So.  With that in mind, we should try to remember that change, in and of itself, neither binds us nor frees us.   The only thing that stands in our way, is our attitudes toward change.

It reminds me of…. the angry bird who landed on a door knob. Then …. flew off the handle.

But. Seriously.  They say you cannot step into the same river twice.  This is also true. In every droplet, it changes.  I guess we somehow have to learn to adapt.

But how do we go with this motion of things?  Saying it is easy.  We just need to understand that THIS is each moment.  Happening. And then in the next moment, happening again.  As I mentioned …. it easier said than done.

Hugh Prather once noted… “Just when I think I have learned the way to live, life changes.”

And there you have it.  Same for me.  Same for Hugh, and you, and you.  And then it changes.  Again.
