Entertain this.

We liked to be entertained. Americans are, quite possibly, the biggest proponents of this.

We like our escapes, our getaways, our vacations, our breaks. Anything to vanish from the mundane of the every day. All of us have our own little things.

In America, we spend a very big amount of money on this. Just take one item, that people use to slip away.

Movies.

The top-grossing movie of all-time was Avatar. It brought in $2.8 Billion.
Two point Eight BILLION Dollars. Avatar. That’s one film that we spent our money on. The next, ironically, was Titanic. $2.1 Billion.

Okay, let’s cut movies a break for a moment. We love our sports. Right now, The World Cup is on fire. Cristiano Ronaldo, a football player on Real Madrid, makes $93 Million a year. Switch balls. Lanky LA Lebron James, pulls in $86 Million for shooting a basketball. Each year. There’s so much more. For a car to run a single race in NASCAR, the tally will run around $150,000. Per car. Per race.

How about our food? Let’s do lunch. The average American, on this one. Joe Lunch-Eater spends $2,746 a year. There are 325.7 Million people in the USA. Rounded out, that is $975,000,000,000 per year, on lunches. OR, $2,671,232,876 per day. That’s a lot of lunch.

How about individuals, and their Net Worth? Our President, Donald Trump, has a Net Worth of $3.1 Billion. Although, I would not classify him as entertaining. But Mark Zuckerberg, Mr. Facebook is worth $77.5 Billion. Dollars. Dollars.

We spend loads of money on building things like Roller Coasters, and rides that will Sling-shot us high into the air. We pay to ride them in hopes of getting the living daylights scared right out of us. All in hopes of just one little moment to get away.

Personally, I love the mundane. I like the routine, I like the ordinary. I am a scheduled kind a gal. Leave me at home, to my own devices. I understand that I am not the norm.

But for those of us that are like me, we have our things too. Pets, books, computers, hobbies, crafts, gardens, puppets. (I am joking about the puppets.) But those things cost money too.

Anyway. Everyone, I think, likes to be entertained. Somehow. There is nothing wrong with this either. I am guessing the human brain might snap in two if it didn’t have times of respite.

But just imagine, what would happen. If every American, for just one movie, would open an envelope, and mail that money into the same pot. The same fund. One movie like Avatar. Or what the heck, let’s take the #16 Top Grossing Movie: Minions. It pulled in $336 Million.

And then we took that money, that $336 Million, and started feeding people with it. People who are hungry. Or homeless. Desperate to live.

I wished the world worked that way. I surely do. That, would be entertaining. Absolutely delightful.
