A better way

There is really something quite amazing about old friends. Good friends. The kind that feels easy to be with every time they are around. We were lucky enough to have such a visit this evening.

They are the kind that doesn’t just pop in. No. There is always planning involved with them. They are organized. Scheming…. …. .in a very good way. Tonight, they came up from Cincinnati, and they cooked us dinner. A very fine grilled chicken and summer salad combination. Delicious!

More icing on the cake. They are not even really dog people. But they love our dogs. And they sit, and listen to our dog stories. And act like they are completely interested. By the end of the night, I was calling them Aunt Col & and Aunt Jan….. and speaking from little Lew’s perspective. I’m pathetic.

But all that aside.

I have written this passage a few times this evening. I was going on & on about their character.  About the little things they do.  And the big things.

I truly believe, if there were more people just like them, the world would be a much better place. I admire so much about their spirit. They always show genuine kindness and caring, for sure. And more. But they also seem to leave a place somehow better than when they came. Every where they go.

My life has been fortunate in this way. To be able to share life experiences with people like these. Over the years, I have known quite a few. As I said. I’m fortunate in this. They seem to embody the life spirit which is so vital in the greatness of our “collective existence.” Loving, and caring for others.

One little thing at a time.
