Flowers.  They don’t grow beards.

Disclaimer.  Right up front.  I am no Fashionista.  I spend my life in blue jeans, and a variety of colored hoodies.  And running shoes.   If I stray from this, it is not by much.  Albeit, I know how to dress up, from time to time.  However. These circumstances usually indicate bad news. Like funerals.

My day-to-day clothing choices are a result in my primary need to feel comfortable.  Which I do.  Regardless of ALL of that,  I have an opinion on that which is deemed as fashion.

And tonight, I am passing judgement on the beard.  What in the world is going on lately?  Every guy on the planet, seems to be wearing a beard, or some attempt at such.

Tonight, I switched on a ball game.  About 95% of the guys on the team?  Beard.

There seem to be certain trends in the types of beards we are seeing.

The clean cut beard.
The scraggly, I have mange on my face, beard.
The fuller  trimmed, so full it looks fake,  beard.
And finally, the ZZ Top, Duck Hunters beard.

Personally, in the past year or so, I’ve seen about three guys that look good in a beard.  Seriously.

I mean, just because you can grow one, doesn’t mean you should.

I can grow nostril hairs.  But I refrain.

A friend of ours recently sported a beard. It made him look about 20 years older and borderline homeless.  Thankfully, he was inspired by Saint Gillette.  Now, it appears, that a divine miracle has occurred.

I would never tell someone that their beard looks like a weasel curled up and died… right on their face.   I understand this is a thing of personal assertion.  An expression.  Perhaps a thing of comfort.  A demonstration of a personal beauty choice.   I suppose.

Or…it simply could be a misguided vision.

Nonetheless.  If you are one of those three guys… keep on keeping on.  YOU look fabulous.
And the others?
Your face is naturally beautiful.  Like a flower is naturally beautiful.  Show us your petals.

Bloom.

Grow.  (But not the hair on your face.)

Not in looks.
Not in what they say.
Just in what they are.”
