Whoopsie. Double Whoooopsie.

Okay.  Do you want to start with Jack & Jill?  Or Humpty Dumpty.  Oh.  What the heck.  Let’s just go with London Bridge.

It’s falling down.  All of them are falling down.  And, as fate would have it… all of us are falling down too.

I’m getting ahead of myself.  Let’s time travel.  Back to Thursday.  They don’t call it “Throw-Back-Thursday” for nothing.   For those of you who have not been following along… I had a Hernia Operation on Thursday.  And yes, it threw me back a little bit.

The surgeon told me that I would be “down and out” for at least 3 to 5 days.  “Out of commission.”  Well, that equates in the “Polly Brain” to 1 to 3 days.  (I use the new math.)

So… maybe I’ve been trying a little too much, too soon.  Maybe I was pushing a smidgen too much.   And by last night, I had myself in a bad spot.

Ahhh.. but today I woke up with new resolve.  Rest. Rest. Rest. And heal.  That was my plan and I was sticking to it.  Even in light of our “evening plans” to have the kids over… all of them… for Josh’s Birthday.  Mary said she would have it all under control.

I rested most of the day, but around 4 p.m., I shifted focus to helping mode.  I went downstairs to begin assisting Mary… and… for a moment… felt like I was walking into an episode of CSI.  It was quiet down there.  Too quiet.  Then I noticed a large spill of water on the floor… followed by a trail of blood drops.  Around the other side of the kitchen… an overturned table.

I wobbled as fast as I could to try to find Mary.  She was in the bathroom, clutching her forehead.  With traces of blood, scattered here, and there.

Apparently, moments before… she had tried to set up one of our folding tables.  She lost her balance and fell face first onto a corner of the bar.  She split open her forehead… pretty much… right down the center.

Now… we are in a bit of jam.  She needed to go to the emergency room.  I can’t drive for 10 days.  She said.. “I need time to think.”  I said… “Well. Let’s think your way on over to the Emergency Room.”

Of course, we are blessed with SuperKids.    Yes.  The kids to the rescue.  Haylee & Levi were on the spot… and off she went to the Emergency Room.  Jess & Leslie came over and helped with dinner.  Everyone pitched in… from start to finish… including a grand clean-up detail with Tiffany.

A few hours later… Mary had six stitches in her forehead…. AND… we still pulled off a dinner party.  Now… how is that for a Sunday Night?

As for Frankenstein over there… well…. now we have two battle wounds in the house.  But she is one tough cookie.  I’ll tell you that much right now.

The moral of the story is this.  The old Japanese Proverb says part of it.  “Fall down seven times.  Stand up eight.”

And perhaps the best summation of them all, comes from that very kind and wise, Mother Theresa. “Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.”

Because I have felt so much love today….  I am happier right now… than I ever could have imagined.
