The Unicorn Principle

There is a LOT in this universe.  By a LOT, I mean an infinite amount of a lot.  It is unending.  Limitless, never-ending, and most certainly…. interminable.

With that being said, there is absolutely no way, no how… that we can know it all.  Or even part of it.

We don’t know a lot of infinite.  And you can quote me on that one.  We don’t see as much either.

What made me think of this, was color.  Early in the day, while I was taking a shower, the morning light was making its way… through the glass block windows, through the glass around the shower, and landing in square patterns on the shower door. They looked like tiny pot holders… made of rainbows.

I stood their in awe of the little colored patterns,  and the thought came… “I don’t see these every day.”  AND! That is why everyone is so enamored with rainbows.  The are a rarity.  Yet, all that light, in all those different colors, surrounds us each and every day.  It is just not visible to OUR eyes.  Unless we have specific conditions which enable this.

Okay.  Let’s take those rainbows.  They  happen when sunlight and rain combine in a very specific way.  When we get a whole bunch of water droplets floating in the sky….  the beams of sunlight separate into the colors we see in the rainbow….  thought the water droplets.  Sunlight is actually made up of different colors that we don’t usually see.  ROYGBIV.

When a beam of sunlight comes down to Earth, the light is white. When that  light beam hits those raindrops on the way down….. and  at a certain angle…. the different colors  separate so that we can see them.  And there you get that good old rainbow.

Why different colors? Wellllll…..   the colors slow down at different speeds when they enter the raindrop. The light exits the raindrop in one color, depending on the angle.   So basically…. we  see only one color coming from each raindrop.  And then a bunch of angles… forming different colors.  Rainbows.

Now if you want me to explain Unicorns, we need about another hour..

So there you have it.  Rainbows are really in our midst… all the time.  We just have to wait for the right moment and conditions, to see the magic.

I purport that this is true of SO MUCH ELSE in this universe of ours.  However,  our little human feebly weekly senses, aren’t keen enough to see, hear, smell, touch, sense, know, understand these things.

Until my humanness gets a little keener, I will have to be glad, and appreciate the sights I am able to see.  The magic… that I DO happen upon.  The things I learn, the people I meet, the knowledge I gain.

I mean, how many of us are lucky enough to spot a bologna jar like this, a Peeper frog like THAT, and a charming snake like this one.  All in one week?

You see, I do believe in Faerie Dust, Unicorns… …. oh….. and… rainbows on my shower door.
