Windy. Earthy. Maurice.

Maurice White died today.

For those of you who don’t know, Maurice White was the founder of the remarkable band called Earth, Wind and Fire.

And those guys could make music.

I can remember hearing my first Earth, Wind, and Fire album.  It was at Terri Stritenberger’s house.  Her older brother Bobby had just recently purchase the record.

Terri and I cranked that think up as loud as we could and danced our fool white-girl booties off.   I can’t remember which album it was, but holy smokes, it was good.

Music can move you. In many ways.  But whenever I heard EW&F, I got moving.  And singing, and feeling every little beat, from my head to my toes.

The band was nine members in all, but Maurice White was the driving force behind their music.

Some times, the world is blessed with some really gifted people.  He was one of them.  He died of Parkinson’s Disease.

I’m going to miss Maurice.   But I am very grateful to him, and that band.  That music will make me dance forever.

Let us read and let us dance – two amusements that will never do any harm to the world.
Voltaire

Let your life lightly dance on the edges of Time like dew on the tip of a leaf.

“And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.”
― Friedrich Nietzsche
